Bears Drop Pair at Haverford Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. -- Coast Guard dropped a pair of matches at the Haverford Invitational losing 3-1 to Haverford and 3-0 to Stevenson.

The Bears will play two more matches tomorrow before heading home as Coast Guard will take on Misericordia at 10:00 and Stockton at noon.


The Fords beat the Bears 25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 25-16.

Amanda Dake led the Bears with 12 kills and four aces to go with six digs.

Sophia Galdamez and Noelle Tursky led the way with eight digs each while Galdamez added five kills for the Bears and Tursky led the way with 29 assists.

The Bears led the first set 19-18 before Haverford ran off three straight to take the lead for good in the 25-22 win.

Haverford led 18-17 in the second before the Bears scored four straight and never looked back winning 25-21.

The Fords ran off five straight points to build a 10-4 lead in the third and later used a 6-0 run for an 18-8 lead in the 25-18 win.

Haverford scored four straight to break a 6-6 tie in the fourth for a 10-6 lead and later closed out the match scoring the final four points for the 25-16 win.


Stevenson beat the Bears 25-18, 27-25, 25-17.
